Ghost Runner · TestFlight beta
Help with the Ghost Runner beta
Ghost Runner is in a free beta through Apple’s TestFlight. It is made by one independent developer, Alexandre Carvalho, who answers support and safety questions.

Get Ghost Runner
Ghost Runner needs an iPhone with iOS 18 and a paired Apple Watch with watchOS 11.
- Install TestFlight from the App Store.
- Open the Ghost Runner beta in TestFlight and tap Accept, then Install. The beta has a limited number of places.
- Install the Watch app: open the iPhone’s Watch app, then Available Apps › Ghost Runner › Install.
If a friend sent you a challenge or group invitation, open their complete link again after installing; installing does not carry the invitation over.
Your privacy and safety controls
- What a challenge link shows: anyone with a challenge link can see a preview with the creator’s runner name, the route with its first and last 200 m (a fifth at each end on a route under 1 km) and anything near the start and finish hidden, the general area, distance and time. Only people who join get the full course. Don’t share challenge links publicly if you’d rather keep your route private.
- Remove a shared attempt: open the challenge in the app, choose Manage shared attempt, then Withdraw shared attempt. An original seed cannot be withdrawn separately; its owner can use Delete Challenge, which removes the challenge and every participant’s shared posts.
- Delete your sharing account: open Challenges from the crossed flags on Routes, then choose … → Delete account… and confirm. This removes your shared posts and challenges you created, including other participants’ posts in those challenges, and disables your sharing sessions.
- Report or block someone: choose Report or block on their shared attempt, select a report category and choose Submit report, or choose Block contributor. You can also open Challenge safety & support from the challenge. Reports are reviewed by the developer. If you can’t use these controls, email ghostrunner@alexcarvalho.me.
- Leave a challenge: members who did not create a challenge can leave it in the app. Leaving withdraws your shared posts in that challenge and is permanent: the same invitation cannot add you back.
- Replace an invitation: challenge owners can use Replace invitation link in the safety controls. The old link stops showing the public course preview and stops accepting new members; existing members keep access. Deleting the challenge removes the preview entirely. Copies already kept by messaging apps cannot be recalled.
Removing shared content does not delete your local Runs or Apple Health workouts. Offline devices may retain downloaded copies until they reconnect. Screenshots and exported copies cannot be recalled.
Beta reliability and backups
This is a beta: the sharing service may be interrupted, and shared challenges and groups could be lost. Shared data is backed up every day, encrypted, to a separate storage provider (Cloudflare R2), but changes since the last backup can be lost.
Your personal Runs and Apple Health workouts stay on your iPhone and are not part of the sharing service. If the service is unavailable or a deletion cannot be completed in the app, email ghostrunner@alexcarvalho.me.
